As believers we are to grow inside of grace. The natural process of growing occurs when you are in what you are supposed to be in. What does grace do? Grace does all the work (Ephesians 2:8), covers our deficiencies (2 Corinthians 12:9), and it is always bent towards mercy (Hebrews 4:16). Grace enables us to have the capacity and ability to be (1 Corinthians 15:40). Hannah Whitall Smith states the following in one of her books, “Living in the heart of His love, this is to grow in grace.”
As we grow in the revelation of the love of God, we grow and mature in His grace. Love is expressed through affirmation, encouragement, correction, etc. When we have a network of love then we have a failure proof life, because the cushion of safety makes the fall just an experience. When we understand that the love of God is our safe place then there will be an eagerness to change. The greatest are those who are humble, remaining small in their own eyes. As this happens there is an embracing of correction and an enjoyment on the journey of changing.
Love has a means to an end. Love has its greatest means in fellowship, when we enter into each others course in life. Fellowship is where we keep from dying. The enemy will attempt to use division and hatred to keep us out of love and fellowship with one another. We must not allow offense to keep us out of fellowship. We are at our best in the Body of Christ when we are growing IN grace together.
